Police say a car crash and fire a month ago in Delta are being investigated as a homicide.
At about 11:20 p.m. on Oct. 26, Delta police officers responded to a vehicle crash in the 7000-block of Highway 17, just north of the Trans-Canada Highway.
The lone occupant of the vehicle, who has been identified as 30-year-old Mandeep Kaur of Delta, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Early signs suggested the incident was suspicious, and the Delta Police Department’s major crime section took over the case.
On Nov. 6, Gurjot Singh Khaira, 24, also of Delta and the victim’s brother-in-law, was arrested. The next day, he was charged with indignity to human remains. He is being held in custody.
On Tuesday, prosecutors added a charge of second-degree murder. Khaira is due in court on Dec. 11 to face
