A junior college basketball player died from an injury he suffered during a game.

Connors State College in Warner, Oklahoma announced the tragic death of sophomore Ethan Dietz in a Facebook post on Tuesday.

Dietz, a 6-foot-8 forward from Vilonia, Arkansas, was injured during the second half of the game in Texas on Nov. 22, the school said. ESPN reported that initial reports indicate Dietz suffered some kind of head injury.

“Ethan exemplified what it means to be a Cowboy, to value hard work and being part of a team,” the school statement said. “While the team and the Cowboy community are processing our own grief, our hearts go out to his family and friends.”
