No matter where you looked in the Coachella Valley in the last five years, there were golf courses undergoing construction projects.
New green complexes, new bunkers and especially new irrigation systems were being installed at more than a handful of golf courses in the desert each summer in anticipation of a new season starting in November. Some were big projects, like a $16 million redesigning of seven new holes into the Players Course at Indian Wells Golf Resort or new green complexes at the Pete Dye Stadium Course at PGA West, host of The American Express PGA Tour event in La Quinta.
