An 18-year-old was shot and killed Saturday night while trying to break up a fight between two men at the Burger King where he was working in Jacksonville, according to reports obtained by WJXT.
Officers responded to a shooting at the fast-food restaurant to find two men with gunshot wounds, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.
Deputies said the incident began just after 8:30 p.m. when Dawud Burritt, 28, walked into the restaurant and got into an argument with another man, Ray Cummings, one of the victims.
The argument escalated into a physical altercation. At that point, 18-year-old Matthew Jackson tried to intervene and break up the fight. Burritt then pulled out a gun, causing everyone to flee, according to the reports.
Witnesses reported hearing two shots and seeing Burritt run
