The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory at 12:37 p.m. on Wednesday valid from Friday 1 a.m. until Saturday 7 a.m. for Cayuga, Cortland, Chenango and Otsego counties.
The weather service says to be ready for, "Total snow accumulations between 3 and 7 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph will produce blowing and drifting snow."
"Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions will impact Thanksgiving holiday travel, especially on Friday," comments the weather service. "Slow down and use caution while traveling. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1. During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally heavy snow to dry weather just a few miles away. Visibilities can also vary greatly
