Oswego County sheriff’s deputies provided key help to U.S. border patrol agents before the biggest immigration raids this year in Upstate New York , federal court documents filed Tuesday reveal.
Traffic stops along a stretch of rural road in Oswego County helped form the basis of the government’s argument for a warrant to search the Nutrition Bar Confectioners plant in Cato, N.Y. in September. That raid led to 57 people being detained.
A 29-page warrant application shows how officers pulled two people over for minor traffic infractions and searched their cars for evidence of illegal Social Security cards and other documents later used to build a case for a search of the Cato plant.
