WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — This section of East Fourth Street between Mulberry and Basin Streets in Williamsport is now a two-way street.
Mayor Derek Slaughter tells us that when these streets were realigned years ago, East Fourth Street was the next natural progression to change it to a two-way street.
"The long-term goal working alongside PennDOT actually is to convert all of 4th Street all the way down to Campbell and then back around 3rd Street to two-way," said Mayor Derek Slaughter, (D) Williamsport.
Mayor Slaughter noticed that when East Fourth Street between Mulberry and Basin was a one-way street, drivers would zip down the one-way street, not paying attention to pedestrians, bicyclists, or other drivers.
"They're just thinking to get from A to B as fast as they can get there.
