WASHINGTON (WUSA) — A large police presence is gathering to investigate a reported shooting as a “critical incident” in northwest Washington, D.C. on Wednesday afternoon.

WUSA reports that D.C. police posted on X that officers are investigating a shooting at 17th Street and I Street.
According to reporting from the Associated Press, two National Guard members were shot, and their conditions are unknown.
Metro Transit Police took to X to ask riders to avoid the area near the Farragut West station as officers assist in the investigation.
Police have not said anything about suspect information.
