FORT MYERS, Fla. — The University of Toledo men’s basketball team couldn’t get enough stops as it fell to Belmont 87-72 on Wednesday in the Royal Palms Division of the Coconut Hoops tournament at Florida Gulf Coast University.
The Rockets kept things close early on, trailing by just three at halftime and took the lead briefly early in the second half. But after Toledo tied the game at 61 midway through the second half, the Bruins went on a 9-0 run and never looked back.
Northview graduate Sean Craig was the top scorer for Toledo with 17 points. Also finishing in double figures were Austin Parks (15 points), Leroy Blyden, Jr. (14), and Sonny Wilson (13).
Belmont’s Tyler Lundblade led all scorers with 22 points and Sam Orne added 18.
