It’s potentially the busiest travel season in the history of the Pittsburgh International Airport as hundreds of thousands of people are expected to pass though the facility this week.

Mix that with the brand-new $1.7 billion terminal that almost none of those people are familiar with, and the airport could be cooking up chaos for Thanksgiving.

Or not.

“All in all, the major things have gone right and smoothly,” said airport spokesman Bob Kerlik. “We've seen the checkpoints operate very well in terms of how the TSA is doing, in terms of the number of lines and screening. Same with the baggage system; the baggage system is continuing to perform very well.”
