A museum in Gettysburg plans a major expansion.
The Gettysburg Museum of History plans a 2,370-square-foot expansion that will include a new wing dedicated to World War II as well as a new Presidential Room.
Central to the new wing will be an extensive public display of artifacts, photographs, and personal effects related to Major Dick Winters and Easy Company, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment—the “Band of Brothers.”
“This new wing will not only honor Major Winters and his men but will explore the broader human story of World War II,” Erik Dorr, founder and curator of the Gettysburg Museum of History, said in a news release. “From the beaches of Normandy to the forests of Bastogne, we want visitors to understand why they fought, how they endured, and how their legacy continues to inspi
