FORT WORTH, Texas — A Fort Worth tradition is returning this Friday after a brief hiatus due to a disease outbreak affecting horses.

The twice-daily cattle drive through the Stockyards will resume operations on Nov. 28, according to its organizers, who emphasized that their equine veterinary team agreed with the decision "because of the precautions our team has taken and the safety protocols we have in place."

The pause, which started on Nov. 20, came on the heels of an outbreak of Equine Herpesvirus Type 1 (EHV-1) that was reported by veterinarians after the recent World Championship Barrel Racing (WPRA) Finals in the Waco area on Nov. 5-9.
