CHARLOTTE, NC — A homicide investigation is underway after a shooting in west Charlotte.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department says on Tuesday night just after 9 p.m. detectives were called to Thriftwood Drive for an assault with a deadly weapon call.

When officers arrived they found a man had been shot. Police say the victim died at the scene.

Crime scene investigators were seen in the parking lot behind a church.

It is unknown if anyone was taken into custody.

This case remain under investigation.
