BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Skyway is closed both directions because of a weather-related crash that happened Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency crews quickly responded to the scene after a truck rolled over, forcing a road closure between the 190 and Mile Strip Expressway.

The Skyway is also closed because of strong winds. Drivers are being urged to use alternate routes until further notice.

Shortly after that crash and the closure of Route 5, the New York State Department of Transportation said it would restrict empty trucks and trailers on the following roadways until further notice, citing"pending snow and ice event in Western New York."
