AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - For many families, Thanksgiving is a time of celebration, but for two Augusta families, the day is wrapped in grief.

On Thanksgiving Day 2010, 17-year-old Nancy Cushman and 19-year-old Angela Brooks were found shot to death in downtown Augusta. The killer remains unknown.

“It was just like a Thanksgiving nightmare. No matter what day Thanksgiving fall on, it will never be the same,” said Latora Smith, Nancy’s cousin.

The victims

Marilyn Turner, Angela’s mother, described the 19-year-old as a fun-loving person who was always on the go.

“She didn’t cause no trouble. She just liked to be on the go. She was a people person. She just got involved with the wrong people,” Turner said.
