The National Weather Service released a special weather statement at 1:56 p.m. on Wednesday until 6 p.m. for Northwest Suffolk, Northeast Suffolk, Southwest Suffolk and Southeast Suffolk.

"Patchy dense fog is possible this afternoon across the area with visibilities dropping to a quarter of a mile or less at times. The fog may persist into the early evening. Motorists encountering fog should use extra caution. Use low beam headlights or fog lamps, and allow extra braking distance between other vehicles," comments the weather service.
