A special weather statement was released by the National Weather Service on Wednesday at 6:17 p.m. until 9 p.m. for Queens as well as Suffolk and Nassau counties.

"Patchy dense fog is possible this evening. Visibilities have already dropped to 1/4 mile or less in spots, especially near the water. Motorists encountering fog should use extra caution. Use low beam headlights or fog lamps, and allow extra braking distance between other vehicles," says the weather service.
