Outbound lanes on a portion of i-94 were shut down Wednesday afternoon as state police conducted an investigation into a shooting, prompting heavy traffic and delays on the freeway.
Around 3:44 p.m. Wednesday, southbound lanes on the Bishop Ford Freeway between 159th Street and Sibley Boulevard were closed as Illinois State Police investigated, authorities said.
The closure caused congestion on the freeway, with delays of up to two hours were expected as of 4:15 p.m., according to Total Traffic.
The shooting that prompted the investigation occurred around 12:40 p.m. near 159th Street in South Holland, ISP said. No injuries have been reported.
