HERRIN, Ill. (KFVS) - A man from Herrin, Illinois was arrested on Wednesday following a multi-agency investigation.

The Herrin Police Department said on November 26, officers working with investigators from the Franklin–Williamson County Child Advocacy Center, Illinois DCFS and the Williamson County State’s Attorney’s Office, arrested 24-year-old Jeffrey S. Smith for aggravated battery of a child.

The investigation found that Smith allegedly injured a child under 13 years old intentionally.

He is currently in custody at the Williamson County Jail.
