AUSTIN, Texas — An Austin woman is using her voice in a unique way to raise awareness about domestic violence.
Twenty-five years ago, Courtney Santana found herself and her children homeless behind a Walmart after she finally found the courage to escape her abusive relationship.
The trials that followed to land back on her feet is what led her to start a nonprofit organization aimed at helping people in similar situations find emergency housing and resources.
But come 2026, she'll be taking her mission to the airwaves, with her debut album that tells the story of her journey in hopes of spreading more awareness to other survivors and drive more action.
