An Ontario man who is already facing dozens of charges in his home province has now been charged in connection with a sexual assault in Calgary more than a decade ago.
Calgary police say the victim and accused were in a relationship at the time of the incident in January 2015, which involved sexual violence and choking.
The victim came forward in August 2025, prompting an investigation.
As a result, Bryan James Hayward, 37, of Hamilton, Ont., has been charged with one count of sexual assault and one count of choking with intent. He remains in custody in Hamilton, with his next court appearance not yet scheduled.
The Calgary charges come amid a broader investigation by Hamilton police.
On May 16, 2025, Hayward was arrested and charged with multiple offences related to a sexual assault
