BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Shoppers made final preparations for Thanksgiving dinner while travelers began their journeys home for the holiday.

At Calandro’s on Government Street, customers picked up last-minute ingredients for their Thanksgiving meals. The USDA says 46 million turkeys will be eaten on Thanksgiving this year.

Carl, who works behind the counter at the market, shared his ideal Thanksgiving menu.

“I always did like a good brown, crisp turkey. It always has to have the stuffing on the side, the cornbread dressing, got to have the mustard green, and we also have to have the macaroni and cheese. You know that is what makes a perfect Thanksgiving, including the family,” Carl said.
