Alberta’s public safety minister is blaming “human error” after the department incorrectly stated it had no records regarding the Edmonton Police Service’s complaint into two police commissioners.
Earlier this year, the Opposition NDP filed two freedom of information requests about EPS’s request for a review of city council’s appointment of Daniel Jones and Renée Vaugeois to the Edmonton Police Commission. Minister Mike Ellis became involved after then-EPS chief Dale McFee asked for a review of the appointments under Section 30 of the Police Act, claiming the two were biased against police.
