Repealing blanket rezoning could put $129 million in federal funding to support Calgary’s housing strategy at risk, according to an internal memo sent to councillors after a meeting with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp. (CMHC).

The correspondence from administration last week suggests the money earmarked through the federal government’s housing accelerator fund (HAF) program has been “paused” by the CMHC, which administers the grant program, “pending further clarity on the status of citywide rezoning.”
