MESA, Ariz. — A 41-year-old woman is accused of impersonating a registered nurse and using another person's nursing license to gain employment at hospice facilities in Cottonwood and Mesa between August and November 2025.

According to court documents, Christine Muturi Lewis was hired by Northern Arizona Hospice in Cottonwood in August after submitting an application claiming more than four years of hospice experience, including work as a triage nurse at a hospital in Las Vegas. She provided a number for a Colorado nursing license which appeared active and valid for multi-state use.

The discrepancy was discovered after Lewis conducted a solo patient visit on Aug. 15. Administrators realized the nursing license had been issued in 1980 — four years before Lewis was born.
