PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - One man is dead after a fire broke out in a Peoria garage on Wednesday, according to Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood.

Peoria firefighters said the call came in just after 8:15 a.m. Wednesday morning on Northeast Perry Avenue. Fire crews arrived to find smoke and fire pouring out of a detached garage in the alley.

Once the fire was put out, fire crews searched the garage and found a dead man inside.

His identity is unknown at this time. Harwood said his department is working with authorities to learn his identity through the process of fingerprinting.

Meanwhile, fire investigators have not yet determined the cause of the fire.
