DESCHUTES COUNTY, Ore. - A California truck driver was arrested for criminally negligent homicide following a two-vehicle crash Monday morning in a remote part of Deschutes County that claimed the life of a 25-year-old Springfield man and a 24-year-old John Day woman, according to the Oregon State Police.
OSP officials responded to the crash at 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 24 near milepost 51 on Highway 20. A Freightliner truck, driven by Rajinder Kumar of Fresno, California, was stopped in a jackknifed position, blocking both lanes. A Subaru Outback, driven by William Micah Carter, collided with the trailer. Both Carter and his passenger, Jennifer Lynn Lower, died at the scene. Kumar was reportedly unharmed.
