The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade is a nearly century-long tradition in the city — but the process of blowing up the more than 30 balloons in the parade is also a sight that thousands of New Yorkers come to see.

Best friends Lenon and Rosie shared with NY1 that their favorite characters are Minnie Mouse and Snoopy. They got to see Minnie leading the pack at 60 feet in height — the tallest balloon.

To inflate them, each chamber is blown up one at a time off Columbus Avenue between 81st and 77th streets

Spectators can expect to see the usual cast of characters like Minnie and the Pillsbury Doughboy, along with some new faces, like Pac-Man and Mario, as well
