Las Vegas - Happy Thanksgiving!
I’ve been here since Sunday, have been outdoors for approximately 30 seconds and am pretty sure today is Wednesday.
Syracuse and Iowa State learned late last night - surprise! - that they would be meeting in the MGM Grand Garden Arena at 10 a.m. local time the next day.
Syracuse was still without its best player, Donnie Freeman. Iowa State was without its star, too.
Point guard Tamin Lipsey, who averages 18.4 points and 5.2 assists sustained the dreaded “lower-body” injury in the Cyclones’ first game here against St. John’s and did not play in Iowa State’s shellacking of Creighton. He has 26 assists, four turnovers and 16 steals this season.
First half: Iowa State 35, Syracuse 34. Final: Iowa State 95, SU 64 . The Cyclones outscored the Orange 60 (!!)
