CASEY COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) — A Casey County man said he is thankful to be alive after surviving a hit-and-run crash on the Cumberland Parkway while changing a flat tire.

Cody Cahall spent 29 days at UK Hospital after suffering multiple broken bones when a car hit him while he and his fiance were changing a tire. The driver did not stop to help.

“Nobody stopped at all. She was the only one there with me. She held my shoulder together; it was a blessing she was there,” Cahall said.

Recovery and community support

Cahall has undergone several surgeries and will need physical therapy for weeks. It could be months or years before his life returns to normal.

“I’m glad to be home for the holidays,” Cahall said.

His fiancé, Kimberly Hook, said she is grateful he survived.
