As Sam Bregman seeks to knock out Deb Haaland in the Democratic primary race for governor, the Bernalillo County district attorney has challenged the former congresswoman and U.S. interior secretary to a series of policy debates.

Does a forum ahead of the June primary count?

No — at least not if you ask Bregman's campaign.

While Bregman has continued to hammer Haaland over her refusal to meet him on the debate stage — going so far as creating a website with a ticking clock showing how long Haaland hasn't responded to his challenge, down to the second — Haaland's campaign said she will participate in a gubernatorial forum in May.
