As Sam Bregman seeks to knock out Deb Haaland in the Democratic primary race for governor, the Bernalillo County district attorney has challenged the former congresswoman and U.S. interior secretary to a series of policy debates.
Does a forum ahead of the June primary count?
No — at least not if you ask Bregman's campaign.
While Bregman has continued to hammer Haaland over her refusal to meet him on the debate stage — going so far as creating a website with a ticking clock showing how long Haaland hasn't responded to his challenge, down to the second — Haaland's campaign said she will participate in a gubernatorial forum in May.
"Deb has agreed to a televised event onstage with her opponents, where she will communicate her vision for a stronger New Mexico to the public," Hannah Menchho
