A Vancouver woman is accused in the negligent death of a French bulldog puppy that died in June from starvation, according to court records.
Amanda L. Zalonka, 36, is facing a charge of first-degree animal cruelty in Clark County Superior Court. She made her first court appearance Wednesday.
Judge Derek Vanderwood granted Zalonka supervised release because she has no criminal history, but she is not allowed to own or possess any animals.
Court documents state that Zalonka owns a Himalayan cat, a French bulldog puppy, a French bulldog mix and a Yorkshire terrier. She said in court the Yorkie is her therapy pet.
Zalonka’s next court appearance is Dec. 3.
