FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Lincoln family is focusing on gratitude this Thanksgiving after a fire destroyed their home earlier this week.

Ernest Bingham, a trailer mechanic at Premier Trailer Sales in Fayetteville, says Monday began like any other workday. About 30 minutes after he left home, his wife called to tell him smoke was filling their house. Minutes later, firefighters arrived to flames burning through the side of the structure.

Bingham says his family made it out safely, but the home and almost everything inside it were lost. Fire officials estimated that tens of thousands of dollars in property and personal belongings were destroyed.

Bingham says the sudden loss was shocking, but he’s especially grateful that his wife and children were unhurt.
