MOSES LAKE, Wash. — Time is ticking for teachers to reach an agreement with the Moses Lake School District. The Moses Lake Education Association says if a bargaining agreement is not reached by Friday, it could initiate a work stoppage , meaning school closures.
The Moses Lake School District Superintendent, Carol Lewis, says the district has been in bargaining conversations with the Moses Lake Education Association since June.
“I think we've had something like 28 bargaining sessions," said Lewis.
The Moses Lake School District, in a statement, explained that it is in a $20 million budget shortfall due to two failed funding levies and an $11 million accounting error that happened in 2024 .
