DALLAS – John Konchar, or “Jitty” as he is known to his Memphis teammates, has never posted big numbers in his first six full seasons in the NBA. However, the former Purdue Fort Wayne standout, who was a first-team All-Horizon League player in his four seasons with the Mastodons and was honored with “John Konchar Day” in Fort Wayne in 2019, shows his value as a professional in so many other ways.
That’s because Konchar, 29, is the consummate “glue guy,” that member of the roster who always does the little things which usually don’t show up on box scores, such as diving for loose balls or deflecting passes, and it’s a role he continues to relish.
