The Blue Jays apparently aren’t messing around this off-season.
After coming within an inch of winning the World Series, the Jays prioritized adding another starting pitcher to their rotation. Not just any starter either, but the best one available.
The Jays rotation went from good to potentially elite Wednesday when news broke that No. 1 starter Dylan Cease had agreed to a seven-year deal worth $210 million (U.S.), pending a physical. The deal includes deferrals, according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal. Once official, it will become the largest free-agent contract in franchise history.
Cease will lead a starting staff that includes Kevin Gausman, Shane Bieber and rookie Trey Yesavage. The fifth spot likely belongs to José Berríos while Eric Lauer appears set to become a long rel
