SEATAC, Wash. — Thanksgiving travel is fully underway across western Washington, and on Wednesday night, the early signs of the holiday rush were visible everywhere, at the airport, on the ferries, and along the rails.
“You’ll get there, no matter what, sometimes a little early or late, but you’ll get there,” said Francos, a ferry passenger, summing up what many passengers described as their plan for the holiday.
On Washington State Ferries, officials expect more than 300,000 riders over the five-day weekend, with more than 420 daily sailings, a 10% increase from recent years.
For Francos, that trip includes every member of his family.
“Coming to have fun over here in Seattle because my son lives over here… we’re going to have a fun time,” he said.
