FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- With Thanksgiving break in full effect and Christmas around the corner, now is the time when stores will be flooded with shoppers.
It's also a busy time for law enforcement agencies, which are increasing the number of officers on the close.
"Our shared mission is simple. To protect our communities so people can enjoy the holidays without fear," said Fresno County Assistant Sheriff Ryan Hushaw.
On Wednesday morning, the Fresno Police Department, Fresno County Sheriff's Office, and California Highway Patrol stood side by side to announce Operation Christmas Presence.
Officers from every agency in uniform and undercover will be patrolling busy shopping malls and centers for the next several weeks.
