An Afghan national has been identified as the suspected shooter in an incident where two US National Guard members were shot near the White House, according to multiple sources. The suspect, 29 year old Rahmanullah Lakanwal, arrived in the US in 2021.
The NY Post reports that Lakanwal allegedly lay in wait before he rounded the corner near the Farragut West Metro Station in Northwest DC around 2.15pm. He then opened fire, hitting a female guard in the chest and then shooting her in the head , according to law enforcement sources.
The guards were on duty when the targeted attack occurred . Both are in critical condition in hospital, says FBI director Kash Patel.
As reported by AP, the suspect was shot four times and was taken away in an ambulance nearly naked. Authorities
