MAINE, USA — In Maine's most recent statewide election, half of the absentee ballots cast and counted were returned by voters who are registered as Democrats—more than twice as many as returned by Republicans—according to data from the Secretary of State's office provided to NEWS CENTER Maine.
Of the total 135,549 absentee ballots received and verified in the Nov. 4 election, 67,709, or 50%, were from Democratic voters.
Democrats submitting 50% of the state's absentee ballots was an increase from 2024, when registered Democrats accounted for 45% of the total returned.
