ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Volunteers at Hosea Helps spent Wednesday night packing boxes and bags to ensure families across metro Atlanta have meals for the Thanksgiving holiday with demand for food assistance surging.
The nonprofit says it expects one of its largest crowds in years when it opens its doors Thanksgiving morning.
At 10 a.m. Thursday, Hosea Helps volunteers will begin handing out free Thanksgiving meals to anyone who needs one, while supplies last.
“You can’t do this work without being touched by what people are going through,” Chief Operating Officer Afemo Omilami said.
The organization says millions of Georgians are facing deep challenges this season.
