CLEVELAND — Colbi Maples shined brightly again with 23 points as Cleveland State held on to win a tight battle with St. Bonaventure, 75-71.
The game marked the first leg of the CSU Invitational at Woodling Gym, with the Vikings holding court at their former permanent home. The contest was tied at halftime and the Bonnies led by one with 9:20 left before the Vikes took the lead for good on back-to-back shots by Macey Fegan.
Fegan finished the night with 12 points, Jada Leonard had 17, and Izabella Zingaro added 15 points and seven rebounds. All but five of Cleveland State's 75 points came from the starting unit, and the Vikings (5-1) shot an impressive 53.2% from the field.
St. Bonaventure (5-2) kept pace most of the evening, but struggled to contain CSU's fast break. Laycee Drake led
