HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Thousands of people who thought they were paying to park at NRG Park were actually being scammed, police say.

Warrants were issued for two NRG Park parking attendants this week in connection with the alleged scheme. A third parking attendant was arrested in March for his purported role.

Investigators say the attendants would present NRG Park visitors with a Square payment device to pay for parking. Unbeknownst to the customers, police say the Square accounts were actually operated by the parking attendants themselves and not NRG Park.

Police say Reginald Smith racked up $25,970 in fraudulent charges between December 2024 and March 2025.

Records show Smith has four felony convictions in Texas, including for robbery and credit card abuse.
