LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Two Central Kentucky nonprofits held community Thanksgiving dinners Wednesday, serving hundreds of people free meals.
The Lexington Rescue Mission and the Jessamine County Homeless Coalition opened their doors to feed people warm Thanksgiving meals. The organizations said they see this as a way to provide dinners that people may not otherwise get.
“To be able to welcome hundreds of people into our own facility and have plenty of food to be able to feed everybody that comes is just so gratifying,” said Laura Carr, executive director of the Lexington Rescue Mission.
Billy Morgan attended the dinner at Lexington Rescue Mission Wednesday. He said his year has been filled with highs and lows, but his Thanksgiving meal was on his list of positives for the year.
