RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Before the turkey and stuffing comes out on Thanksgiving, there’s another holiday tradition celebrated the night before.
Many people back home for the holidays head to their local hometown bars.
In more recent years, the night has become known as “Blackout Wednesday” or “Drinksgiving.”
“Common conception in the restaurant industry is that Wednesday before Thanksgiving is the busiest bar night,” Chris Brumfield, the general manager at Bingo Beer Co, said.
Bingo Beer Co, a Richmond bar in Scotts Addition, was one of many stocking up and staying open later in anticipation of an influx of customers.
“This week we are going to have Saturday and then we are all off for Thanksgiving, and then we are going to have Friday and Saturday all over again,” Brumfield said.
