After a month-long standoff with its former head football coach Brian Kelly, LSU plans to pay out his full $ 54 million buyout.

Per a formal written notice from the university sent to Kelly that The Daily Advertiser obtained Wednesday night, LSU has backtracked on its stance and now says Kelly was fired without cause. To receive the full buyout of his 10-year contract he signed with LSU back in December of 2021, Kelly must attempt to find another football-related job, per the conditions of the deal.
