There may be unity around the Thanksgiving family table, anchored by your traditional roasted turkey, oyster dressing and mirliton casseroles with shrimp.

But then it’s time for the next meal on a long, festive holiday weekend, and when the contents of the fridge look more like aftermath than appealing leftovers, it’s time to dine out. Where to go? Ah, there’s the rub (and I don’t mean the butter on the turkey).

For some, the answer, obviously, will be something fresh and distinctly different from traditional fare. For others, especially those visiting home again, New Orleans flavor will have a magnetic appeal. This is their weekend to gorge on gumbo, after all.
