MACON, Ga. — Downtown Macon is gearing up for one of its biggest annual attractions as the Christmas Light Extravaganza returns this week with more than a million synchronized lights, expanded programming, and an expected surge of visitors.
The display, organized by Visit Macon and the Macon Christmas Light Extravaganza team, traditionally draws large crowds into the downtown area throughout the holiday season.
Alyssa Jones, who works downtown, said the increase in foot traffic is noticeable every year.
“There’s always way more people walking around downtown just to look at the lights,” Jones said.
