USCIS has suspended all Afghan immigration processing after Rahmanullah Lakanwa, 29, was named as the suspect in the Washington DC shooting
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has announced an immediate halt to all immigration requests involving Afghan nationals, following the arrest of an Afghan man in connection with a shooting in Washington DC that left two National Guard members critically injured.
"Effective immediately, processing of all immigration requests relating to Afghan nationals is stopped indefinitely pending further review of security and vetting protocols," USCIS declared on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter .
"The protection and safety of our homeland and of the American people remains our singular focus and mission," the agency affirme
