Don Newcombe
Brooklyn Dodgers hurler Don Newcombe becomes the first player to win baseball’s Cy Young Award, signifying him as the best pitcher in the game. In the 1970s, he was named the L.A. Dodgers’ director of community affairs and, in 2009, he became a special adviser to the chairman.
